Zahntechnik plus 2024: Training and Inspiration for All Dental Laboratory Professionals

The second edition of Zahntechnik plus is ready to open its doors. From 3 to 4 May 2024, dental technicians from all areas of the industry are getting together to extend their knowledge, seek inspiration, exchange experiences and network with colleagues. They can look forward to 87 exhibitors displaying product trends and innovations as well as a congress programme with top-quality advanced training opportunities. At more than 60 informative lectures, workshops and discussion panels, congress attendees can find inspiration for daily issues at work and benefit from ideas about the future of laboratory management.

"At Zahntechnik plus 2024, participants can expect a comprehensive programme that goes way beyond being just a technical CPD course", says Dominik Kruchen, President of the Association of German Dental Technicians (VDZI). "Alongside technical expertise, we consider strong business management training to be particularly valuable in supporting dental technicians in dealing with business matters on a daily basis. Naturally, the event is also focused on exchanging ideas and experiences with colleagues from all over Germany. Zahntechnik plus provides a unique forum for networking, having conversations and finding solutions for current challenges.

The Zahntechnik plus opening ceremony is on 3 May at 9:45 am in Hall 1 of the Congress Center Leipzig. Opening remarks will be made by Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe, Jörg Dittrich, President of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) and Dominik Kruchen, President of the Association of German Dental Technicians (VDZI).

Significant Increase in Exhibitor Numbers at the Industry Trade Fair

In comparison to the first edition of Zahntechnik plus in 2022, the number of exhibitors in 2024 increased by more than 70 per cent. "The growth in exhibitor numbers is a clear testament to the significance of Zahntechnik plus", says Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "The change of venue to the Congress Center Leipzig ensures we can provide an ideal location for the extended exhibition and participants can easily cover the short distances between the trade fair, the congress and the featured themed areas.

Alongside information on various services, the industry exhibition offers insights for professional visitors into the latest technologies, tools and instruments as well as materials and supplies for production, equipment and fittings for dental laboratories. Leading manufacturers, distributors and service providers are travelling to Leipzig to present their innovations and contribute lectures and workshops to the congress programme.

Specialist Knowledge on the Latest Implant Prosthetics

Zahntechnik plus offers dental technicians and owners of dental laboratories the perfect opportunity to engage in practical CPD and acquire valuable knowledge. At the heart of the congress programme is the Expertise Congress organised by the Professional Association of Dental Technicians (FZT e.V). For two days, dental technicians can benefit from detailed presentations on diagnostics, aesthetics, functionality and precision. A particular focus here is on understanding the interaction between medical and design considerations. Topics covered include the manufacture of front tooth implants, the opportunities and risks of using digital impressions to produce dental prostheses, the use of scientific guidelines in dental technology and advice on dealing with patients' increasing aesthetic demands. Renowned national and international speakers will be sharing their long years of experience with reference to countless practical examples.

Fascinating Insights and Valuable Inspiration for Daily Laboratory Practice

At the same time, practical talks and workshops are scheduled to take place on featured themes. On both days of the event, the three spotlights "Modern Technologies", "Personnel – the New Gold" and "Safe and Sustainable", aim to provide owners and managers of dental laboratories with advice and solutions on how to meet current challenges and adapt to new developments.

The featured topics focus on methods to support decision-making when investing in new production technologies, cost accounting and calculation models for CAD/CAM in dental restoration and utilising the digital services provided by BEB Zahntechnik to plan the manufacture of dental products. Ideas on how to combat the lack of trained laboratory staff are also an area of focus at Zahntechnik plus. Furthermore, the agenda includes a comprehensive examination of strategies for attracting and retaining staff as well as ensuring job satisfaction and fair pay, a look at career paths for young professionals and ideas on how to find a successor. Measures to optimise safety and quality in the laboratory will also be a major focus, alongside ecologically and economically sustainable management solutions.

Embracing the Future Together: Support for the Next Generation at Zahntechnik plus

More than 100 aspiring dental technicians will take part in the "Education Day for Trainees" on 3 May at Zahntechnik plus 2024. This new format offers trainees a varied programme of lectures and workshops, a panel discussion and guided tours of the industry exhibition. Young professionals can acquire new knowledge while also taking the opportunity to exchange experiences with each other and network with industry representatives. The "Education Day for Trainees" at Zahntechnik plus is designed to afford insights into current developments and discussions, thereby integrating prospective dental technicians into the sector at an early stage.

Klaus Kanter Award Ceremony

On the afternoon of 3 May, the Klaus Kanter Award for outstanding achievement in the practical exam to become a master dental technician will be awarded by the Klaus Kanter Foundation. The competition is known in the trade as the "Dental Olympics". It is open to newly qualified master dental technicians who have presented their final practical workpiece to an examination board and passed as the best in their class.
